A local Army veteran who was injured in Iraq has been surprised with a purple heart. Cory Schreiber of Lagrange received the honor 14 years after his vehicle was hit by an Improvised Explosive Device. The explosion left him with nerve damage to his back and neck. He says he thought the purple heart was an idea that seemed too distant to become real. "This feeling of relief and something you've been chasing for 14 years. For a few years I gave up and thought it was done. "
